Santiago Lago, Director of the Economic Forum of Galicia and Professor of Public Finance at the University of Santiago de Compostela, presented the Socioeconomic Outlook Report for the second quarter of 2026 at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the University of Santiago de Compostela.

Lago highlighted that the Galician economy has maintained a sustained pace of growth, although with a slight slowdown in the second quarter. Growth remains above the European Union average but below that of the Spanish economy.

He estimated that Galicia’s economy will grow by around 2.5% in 2026, while warning of the risks posed by the international environment, particularly persistent geopolitical tensions and inflationary pressures affecting key areas such as energy, fuel and construction.

The presentation was also attended by Fernando González Laxe and José Francisco Armesto, who contributed to the analysis of the latest economic and labour market developments in Galicia.
